All products are intended exclusively as aids for development and integration into your own circuits and devices. Electronics expertise is required for setup and use. The products are not suitable for children and must be kept out of children's reach. Small parts may present a choking hazard for children under 36 months.

General Notes

  • Read and observe the product description, datasheet, and any enclosed documentation before putting a product into operation. Use the product only for its intended purpose.
  • Do not use a product if it shows visible damage. Depending on the nature of the damage, there is a risk of injury or danger to life (e.g. from sharp edges or electric shock).
  • Unauthorised modification or alteration of a finished product is not permitted for safety reasons.
  • If a product has been moved from a cold to a warm environment (e.g. after transport in winter), do not put it into operation until any condensation has fully evaporated. This may take several hours.

Electrical Circuits

  • The usual precautions when working with electrical voltages must be observed. Work on mains voltage or above extra-low voltage may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can destroy electronics instantly and permanently. Suitable protective measures (ESD wrist strap, antistatic mat) must be used.
  • Inductive and capacitive voltage spikes can destroy electronics instantly and unexpectedly when power is applied, even if ESD precautions are observed.
  • Do not overload components or modules. Observe the limit values for input voltages, currents, and output power specified in the datasheet.
  • Fully charged batteries can have a significantly higher voltage than their nominal rating – this must be taken into account when designing a circuit.
  • Plug-in power supplies are often unregulated: a 9 V supply may initially output 12 V; the voltage drops as the load increases. Before connecting an external power supply, verify that the voltage, polarity, and connector dimensions are compatible with the product.
  • Breadboards and thin jumper wires are not suitable for high currents.
  • Connectors (pin or socket headers) only provide a reliable connection when soldered to the circuit board.
  • Modules and assemblies without touch protection (bare PCBs) are intended for installation in suitable devices or enclosures. Adequate touch protection must be ensured before commissioning; otherwise there is a danger to life from electric shock.

Soldering

  • Use only suitable electronics solder and a soldering iron appropriate for electronics work.
  • Work quickly to avoid overheating and damaging components or the circuit board.

Batteries and Accumulators

  • Swallowing batteries or accumulators is life-threatening. Seek medical attention immediately if this occurs.
  • Keep batteries and accumulators out of the reach of children.
  • Damaged or aged batteries may leak fluids that can cause skin and eye burns. Rinse affected areas thoroughly with lukewarm water and consult a doctor if necessary.
  • Damaged or short-circuited batteries and accumulators can overheat, catch fire, or explode. Remove damaged units from the device immediately and dispose of them safely.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries must not be recharged – there is a risk of explosion and fire.
  • Charge accumulators only with a charger specifically designed for them. Monitor the charging process and keep the charger away from flammable materials.
  • Never mix batteries and accumulators of different types, charge states, or capacities. Always replace the complete set.
  • Before disposal, cover exposed contacts with a piece of adhesive tape to prevent short circuits. Even apparently empty batteries can still be dangerous if short-circuited.

Manuals and Datasheets

Due to their scope and the need to stay up to date, manuals and datasheets are usually available online on the respective manufacturer's website if they are not included with the product. An internet-enabled computer is required for setup in order to access information and, if necessary, install configuration software.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents, as these may damage housing parts or protective coatings.

Disposal

Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste (waste equipment) must not be disposed of with household or residual waste. The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicates that, at the end of its life, the device must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste.

Waste equipment from private households can be handed in at municipal collection points/recycling centres or at designated take-back points.

Batteries

Batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of in household waste. Batteries and accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol and, where applicable, the abbreviation of the relevant heavy metal (Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead). You can return used batteries free of charge at municipal collection points/recycling centres or at retail outlets that sell batteries.

Before disposal, cover exposed contacts with a piece of adhesive tape to prevent short circuits – even apparently empty batteries can be dangerous if short-circuited (rupture, intense heat, fire).
